Help write the next story.
Writing fiction can be a lonely profession. The author alone with his or her bucket of thoughts, trying to make exciting things happen for figments of the imagination. But I’m thinking there might be another way.
Below is an experiment. A social, collaborative, and creative experiment that goes like this—
Together, we create a novel. Each week (or two, depending on how things go), for around 25-40 weeks, we add a chapter. The steps go like this:
You read the latest chapter
You vote on the options or send me your ideas through the input box below.
Using your collective input, I write the next chapter and post it.
Repeat steps 1 - 3 until we finish the story.
If we keep on schedule, we’ll have a first full draft in around eight months. (This is an experiment, so if the schedule is too tight, I will adjust it.)
It’s fun. It’s interactive. It’s like an open-ended Choose-your-own-adventure with sweet notes of democracy and clear undertones of collaboration. Anyone who provides their name and email as a collaborator will get mentioned in the acknowledgments.
It’s the next story, and you’re part of writing it.

Overview
Socially-Constructed Story #1

Settings: 2009 in Peru, Washington, D.C., and whatever else we come up with.
Starting Premise: An American aid worker, Rafael, goes missing while working on an alternative development project in Pichari, Peru. Unrelentingly troubled by her ex’s disappearance, Alexandra, sets out to investigate what happened…
Tell us what happens next.
Once you’ve read the latest chapter (and hopefully any that came before it), let me know what you think should happen next. Either choose an option or write in an idea if you don’t like the options given.
This project isn’t just wildly entertaining and thought-provoking. It will also help people very much in need.
